Field House is one of the premier stockists of Silverfeet, a microbial balm developed by farrier John Stanley.Silver Feet is the next generation of hoof care. Here is some information from their website: Silverfeet hoof balm is a new and unique blend of natural ingredients with an important addition – silver.

It has been developed for horse owners who not only wish to see their horse’s hooves shine but also to proactively protect against bacterial growth. Silver kills an astonishing range of microbes (bacteria and fungi) within minutes of application. Although it is widely known that silver prevents the growth of many bacteria and fungi, we wanted to prove this ourselves before making claims regarding a new product’s antimicrobial activity. Before and after shots (which are often used to demonstrate the effect of hoof treatments) are not a scientific way of proving benefit.

This is due to the large number of differences between horse hooves, stable and field conditions which makes comparison difficult.We therefore conducted experiments in an approved microbiological laboratory. All samples tested were obtained from horses with clinically diagnosed hoof thrush and therefore were representative of the exact microbes we are trying to eliminate. This is the first time that silver ion technology has been available in a product designed for equine hooves. Experiments conducted in an approved laboratory showed that Silverfeet virtually eliminated the growth of bacteria sampled from infected hooves following 3 hours of exposure. Additional experiments involving fungi showed similar results.

RUG CLEANING

It's the time of year when we should all be thinking about getting our heavy and middleweight turnouts cleaned and stored for the summer, but it always seems to be near the bottom of the to do list when the sun is shining and we'd all rather be out on the horses. We have the solution, just drop them in to us next time you call in for some feed or a browse, we can have turn out rugs cleaned and reproofed within a week (our collections are every Thursday) and we also do stable rugs.

If your horses and ponies are tough on their rugs then remember we also do repairs, and we can even offer an embroidery service so that your saddlecloth or show fleece really stands out from the crowd this season. Prices start from £7, so throw them in the boot of the car, bring them down and let us get them sorted for you.

We can't believe how cold it has been over the last few weeks. Thankfully here at FHE we have managed to get the horses out for a leg stretch in the fields most days, but keeping access to fresh water continues to be a challenge!

We don’t know about you, but summer is absolutely flying by here at Field House Equestrian. It has been so busy! We have been out to lots of shows with the trade stands, including the Allerton Park BSJA area qualifiers and Thornton Watlass Horse Trials to name just two. We have met loads of people and made lots of new friends, so thank you if you have come to chat to us or shop from us. It is great to see our regular customers out competing and chat to people to find out what kind of things you buy when you are at a show.
